Rick Bales, the Sun’s circulation manager, was killed yesterday when he was crushed beneath a pickup truck he had up on jacks on a parking lot next to his home.
I knew Rick, not well and certainly not as well as Maria and the other folks at the Sun, but well enough to know he was a hard working can-do good guy and a strong team player.
He was also a motorcyclist and I had the impression that he sometimes rode without a helmet. That worried me. I guess I was worried about the wrong thing.
Rick was only 45.
