Ruthie and Pete get a clean bill of health

Pete, Ruthie and I just returned from our first visit to their new vet and my wallet is $323 lighter.

But they're in good health and, thanks to the shots they got and the flea-tick-mosquito-heart worm meds I brought home, they should stay that way.

The doc says there is a zone that extends about 150 miles on either side of the Mississippi River in which there is a particularly drug-resistant strain of heart worms. The good news is that if we keep good records to prove we kept up their Heartguard medication, Heartguard will cover the cost of additional treatment.

Too bad our medical insurance doesn't cover dogs.
