It's 91 here at 12:42 p.m., but the heat index is 101.
The Weather Channel says it's also 91 in Vegas, with a heat index of...91.
That's the difference between 59% humidity here and 32% humidity there.
I think I'd rather be in Vegas.
(By 3:20 p.m., it was up to 95 with a heat index of 107 here in northeast Arkansas.)

Damn! It reached 112* here last week and I thought I was gonna die. Going in and out of the air conditioning to the heat and the oven of a car is so exhausting.
We are in the dry heat too over here but the past couple of days we have been feeling a bit of moisture from the ocean winds and that makes everything more awkward. Humid heat is cloying but going in the air from the humidity is cooler to the skin.
I dont know how those construction workers in Vegas are doing it. They must have a million construction workers over there, everywhere is building up.
Are you going to visit there on your upcoming trip? How do bikers handle riding in the heat like that?
Looks like the Vegas trip will have to wait until cooler weather. We have company coming from Indiana on the 26th, so I have to get back here by then.
That said, I've ridden across the Mojave Desert in July with temperatures well over 100. I wore a vented jacket over a water-soaked t-shirt and a 2-liter Camelbak strapped to my back. I'd much rather do that ride than ride I-70 across humid, steamy Missouri in 100+ heat.
Well I wish you a good and safe cool ride!!!
Look forward to the travel log updates!!!
