The Crowley's Ridge Parkway tour, including Frierson Lake and Crowley's Ridge State Parks turned out to be a pretty good idea.
We let the kids use the playground at the lake while we sat in the shade, then meandered up the road to Crowley's Ridge State Park where Jim took the kids swimming.
Jim and Lauri took us out to dinner Friday evening at the Whole Hog Cafe, an award winning Jonesboro barbecue place where Lauri got this shot of me after finishing the fabulous whole hog platter.
We came home and finished up our week-long marathon pirate game with the kids, then introduced Jim and Lauri to our favorite western, "Open Range."
We were all up by 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, helping Lauri and Jim load their car for the trip home. They rolled out about 9 a.m.
Both boys had hours of fun playing with our two dogs and we wondered how long it would take for them to broach the subject of getting a dog. Lauri called from the road to announce that it took the kids exactly 45 minutes to ask if they could get a dog.
She didn't say what the answer was.
