Riding on the ridge

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Maria’s 1994 BMW K75S turned 10,000 miles this afternoon, which means it’s still a very low mileage 17-year-old motorcycle.

We bought it on Oct. 31, 2000 with 2,417 miles on the odometer, so the OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA remaining 7,583 miles are all ours.

One of my writing assignments includes Crowley’s Ridge State Park, so I went for a ride up Crowley’s Ridge Parkway to the park to see how things are doing there.

The trees are just starting to bud, so it’s still possible to see the split trunks and broken limbs that remain from the January, 2009 ice storm. I know they’ve done a lot of cleaning up since then, but the damage will take decades to heal.

I stopped at the Paragould Wendy’s for a bowl of chili before completing the loop on U.S. 412, Ark. 69, and U.S. 49.

It’s a delightful, sunny 70 degrees this afternoon.
