Thursday is the 64th anniversary of the world’s first atomic bombing, an attack that flattened Hiroshima and helped end World War II.
Back in August, 1995, President Bill Clinton said the United States owed Japan no apology for dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II, and that President Harry S. Truman had made the right decision to use the bombs.
Clinton’s comments came in response to a question at the annual convention of the American Society of Newspaper Editors. Asked whether an apology was owed, Clinton replied "no," adding that President Truman had made the right decision "based on the facts he had before him."
Please, please, Comrade Obama. Don’t take it upon yourself to apologize to Japan on our behalf.
