It'll be melted by tomorrow afternoon

This is how our house looked this morning after a late winter storm dumped about 3 inches of windblown snow on the Mid-South.

It's clear here, but it's snowing hard from Birmingham, Ala. to Macon, Ga. and the forecast is for chilly weather in Florida for the next couple of days.

Leaving for Daytona today would be flat-out stupid and Monday isn't looking all that great either. Tuesday morning is the most likely launch time. The roads should be clear by Tuesday morning, even though the temperature is forecast to be just above freezing.

Indianapolis BMW Club friends Wayne and Peggy are holed up at Wayne's son's home in Alabama and probably won't beat me to Daytona by much. Here's how it looks eight hours later. The driveway and sidewalk are clear and there are huge bare spots where there was heavy snow this morning.

Maybe a Monday departure isn't out of the question...
