The Indianapolis crew is here and mostly camped in the same place.
Steve Osnamer and Dennis Shelly are camped separately on the river bank, saying it will facilitate their departure tomorrow morning.
Our club enclave in the piney woods, anchored by my tent, includes Jerry and Judy Pearson, Rick Nelson, Wayne and Peggy Garrison, Bob Bender, and Rich Nathan.
Rich and I both wore our U.S. 50 t-shirts to commemorate our 2001 U.S. 50 tour in which we rode the entire length of the transcontinental highway. U.S. 50 runs from Ocean City, Md., to Sacramento, Calif.
We did the western leg July 14-16, 2001, and the eastern leg in on the third weekend of October of that year.
Tonight was the big barbecue dinner at the rally. But I still had room for a little piece of cake and some coffee at the state park inn to justify my use of their wifi.
The dining room is jammed with locals – the waitress said it’s Hardin County Alumni Night – and it’s very noisy, probably because of crappy acoustics. Even so, it feels like they’re all shouting and I’m ready to flee up the road for some convenience store beer and then back to the campground.
