This is the first BMW rally t-shirt I’ve ever owned that I bought before the event. More than two months before the event, in this case.
The event is the 2009 BMW Bash, a July 3-4 rally at the Hub Motorcycle Motel and Campground in Marble Falls, Ark. It’s sponsored by these 10 BMW dealers:
- Grass Roots BMW – Cape Girardeau, Mo.
- Engle Motors – Kansas City, Mo.
- BMW Triumph Vespa of Little Rock, Ark.
- Gateway BMW Motorcycles – St. Louis, Mo.
- Gina’s BMW Motorcycles – Iowa City, Ia.
- BMW Motorcycles of Omaha, Neb.
- BMW Motorcycles of Oklahoma –Oklahoma City, Ok.
- Roadhouse Motorsports – Tulsa, Ok.
- Shreveport Motor Sports – Shreveport, La.
- Bentonville BMW – Bentonville, Ark.
All 10 dealers began selling the t-shirts well in advance, declaring the $20 price is a donation to charity. I got mine at the Little Rock dealership on April 24 when I went for a day ride to Hot Springs.
The official web site describes the rally thus:
Come and ride with us July 4th weekend in northwest Arkansas. All brands are welcome to ride in and join the good time at The Hub Motorcycle Motel and Campground located in beautiful Marble Falls, Arkansas. Experience some of the finest motorcycle roads in the USA.
Saturday night barbecue while it lasts, self guided tours. This is a no frills event, nightly campfire, on site restaurant, Saturday night band. Over 500 motel rooms available in the area.
Google Maps says Marble Falls is 195 miles from here – 4 hours 18 minutes on Arkansas’s dubious highway system. Weather and other circumstances permitting, I think I’ll go.
