A friend sent me this series of photos over the weekend showing what happened to a Chevy SUV when the GPS battery exploded because of high temperatures inside the vehicle, which was parked in the sun.
We don’t know what brand the GPS was but the odds are it was a Garmin, since more than half of all GPS units sold last year were Garmins. (But, of course, it could have been a TomTom, Magellan or some Brand X.)
The lesson here is to get your GPS off of the windshield when you’re not using it this summer.
The other interior shots suggest a pretty substantial explosion that broke the windshield and generated a fireball that burned and melted the dashboard and overhead accessories.
